A quick scramble to the top of the Frigate, great for setting or retrieving topropes. 

  Scramble up to the saddle between the Frigate and the main bluff. Step across to the left - there are a couple of places to do this, all about the same difficulty. Move out onto the exposed East Face, and work your way up to the top, with a few 5th class moves as you move up from ledge to ledge. 

  The easiest moves could be hard to spot when you are coming down from the top.

When Life Gives You Lemons...SQUEEZE THEM TO DEATH!

Thin, technical face left of The Pooper. Start off a block.

If you use Spider Mitts you're going A0 

  It's tape or nothin' 

  One of the hardest 8's you'll ever climb

Delicate and burly at the same time.  The crux is exactly where you think it will be, the face above has good, sharp horizontals, and then there is a final throw to the top. 

  I've seen two different strategies used successfully:  ease up the flare, and power layback.

Starts with a boulder problem on the right face of the South arete.  You generally follow this corner up, avoiding the main crack of Can Can.  At the top, move back onto the South face into a seam. 

  The hard part is spotting the crimps - there is usually no chalk on this route.

Starting left of Flying Dutchman this ascends the corner on small holds and a tricky step right over the center overhang. Then up buckets to a tricky throw on the left corner of the formation (same as FD).

The crux of the route is after the garden ledge there is a large crack that can be fist jammed or done via a lay back.  This part may be harder than a 5.3.

Route #19 page #238 3rd Edition Climber's Guide To Devil's Lake by Olaf and Mayer.   Route lies just right of "Can Can".  Surmount short steep blockish thing to ledge then climb great finger crack/layback fissure to slabs and ledges above.  Belay (or TR anchor) at top mid section of "The Frigate"

One of the better 5.5 leads at the Lake:  nice moves, good pro, wonderful summit. 

  On the Southeast side of the Frigate, a crack system heads up between the two summits.  From the base, move up a dihedral a little to the right, find some good pro, then move left and up into an alcove.  Kick high!  Getting into the alcove is probably the technical crux. 

  In the alcove, get some more bomber gear.  Kick high!  and pull around the little roof.  Head up to the summit on the right (North).

Great mind bender. Run out sections culminate with a very committing move to a mantle top out.

Start right of the chimney (can use the chimney for easier variation, but the chimney is not part of this route). Climb is mostly slab past the first 15 feet.  

  Belay space is very limited and bushwacked.

This is a two part climb. Part one (When Life Gives You Lemons...) heads up easy terrain left of the crack to a nice stance, then traverse right with a tricky sequence, to a BOMBER hand jam, take it to the top. 

  Part two (SQUEEZE THEM TO DEATH!) heads up using the crack and big holds on the left but goes straight up the crack utilizing a wicked one knuckle pinky jam and a heinous pinch on the arete to the same BOMBER hand jam as part one.

The Frigate is an impressive-looking formation found just above the Porkchop Buttress and Dungeon Wall.  The overhanging west wall contains the challenging route "Pooper", and on the overhanging southeast wall you will find "Flying Dutchman", another difficult route.  Most other climbs here are easy to moderate.
